Kenya

Overview

Safari means “journey” in Swahili, and Kenya is the birthplace of safaris. The architecture and food integrate Arabic and Indian flavours making it a sensory feast. Add to this: an exquisite tropical coastline fringed with breath-taking golden sand beaches; gorgeous coral gardens providing excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities; and a slew of luxury beach resorts, and it is easy to see why so many visitors flock here from around the world to experience a truly unique African adventure in one of the world’s most pristine safari destinations. Undoubtedly, the biggest attraction to the country is the great migration in the legendary Masai Mara. Millions of animals, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle partake in an annual migration between the Masai Mara and the Serengeti (Tanzania). As a country of diversity and contrast, it also has an array of National Parks. These include Tsavo National Park, the Masai Mara, Amboseli, Laikipia Plateau and Lake Nakuru. A culture rich destination with incredible indigenous tribes like the Maasai and Samburu.

Experiences

Kenya is home to the greatest wildlife show on earth. Here, the annual wildebeest migration takes centre stage, as millions of wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara River in a breathtaking spectacle of nature. The Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros—roam freely in this vast savannah, making it a prime destination for safari enthusiasts. Amboseli National Park is an essential destination, renowned for its breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak that creates a postcard-perfect backdrop. The lush, green landscapes of Aberdare National Park hide rare species such as the bongo antelope and elusive African leopard. For those seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience, Laikipia Plateau is a hidden gem, known for its diverse and endangered species, including Grevy’s zebra. Samburu National Reserve in addition boasts unique wildlife such as the reticulated giraffe and Somali ostrich. Kenya’s coastal areas, including the captivating Diani Beach and Watamu Marine National Park, provide opportunities to explore vibrant coral reefs and encounter marine life, such as dolphins and sea turtles, adding a marine dimension to your safari adventure.
